'World’s Most Evil Killers' is a hard-hitting true-crime documentary series that profiles some of the most notorious murderers and serial killers from around the world, chronicling the crimes, background, investigations, verdicts and impact — and giving voice to victims’ families, investigators, journalists, criminologists and other key witnesses.
Each episode combines archival material, trial records, expert commentary and interviews to build a comprehensive — and often chilling — portrait of what drove these killers, how they operated, and how they were eventually brought to justice.
The series is a UK production and forms part of the broader “Most Evil Killers” franchise. It first launched in 2017 and has since produced multiple seasons, making it a long-running fixture for true-crime viewers.
In the UK, the show airs on Sky Crime (and related on-demand services such as NOW) — and across the world (including the U.S.) the show has been available via streaming platforms such as Peacock.
This global reach ensures that the stories it tells — often disturbing and controversial — are accessible to a worldwide audience interested in criminal justice, psychology, and history.
As an Assistant Producer on the series, my role focused on U.S. cases, which required a strong working knowledge of the American legal system and its police procedures. I liaised with U.S. law-enforcement agencies to organise record requests and obtain crime-scene evidence, photos, archival footage, audio, and other relevant material. I used genealogy resources to build family trees and locate victims’ relatives for interviews, thereby helping to restore identity and dignity to those who had often been anonymised or forgotten. I also organised filming schedules for the U.S. production team, created GV (general video) shot-lists and scouted interview locations on the ground in the U.S.
Among the episodes I worked on was the case of serial killer Robert Hansen. For that episode I secured and conducted an exclusive interview with the sister of one of his victims — someone who had never spoken publicly before. I also tracked down a former neighbour of Hansen, who provided previously unseen photographs and firsthand testimony, shedding new light on his private life and the horror behind his crimes. I wrote detailed, referenced case notes ensuring every fact we aired was legally sound and accurate, helping deliver a show that balanced rigorous investigative journalism with respect for victims and their families.
