Role

Producer | Edit Producer

Murdered at First Sight is a powerful and emotionally charged true-crime documentary series that explores cases in which victims are tragically killed by strangers, with no prior connection, warning, or chance to escape their fate.

Broadcast in the UK on Sky Crime and available internationally through various true-crime platforms and broadcasters, the series has reached a broad global audience and continues to resonate with viewers who are drawn to its sensitive storytelling and detailed investigative approach.

As a Producer on the series, I was responsible for researching the cases in depth, casting contributors, sourcing archival material, conducting interviews, and crafting the editorial shape of each episode through carefully written interview questions and narrative structure. Many of the stories featured in the series had never before been covered in a documentary format, and several episodes include exclusive material and first-time interviews with victims’ families, detectives, and key individuals who were directly connected to the investigations.

A particular highlight of my work on the series was producing the episode on the hate-crime murder of Philip Walstead, a case that had never previously been examined publicly in documentary form. I worked closely with his loved ones and the officers involved to tell his story with honesty, respect, and care.

The series includes a mix of three UK cases and seven US cases, which required extensive collaboration with American police departments, district attorneys’ offices, and state authorities to secure access, material, and interviews. My role demanded both sensitivity and precision — balancing legal processes, contributor welfare, and complex editorial needs to create episodes that are both compelling and deeply respectful to those whose lives were forever changed by these tragic crimes.
