'Naked Attraction' is a bold, body-positive dating show first launched in the UK, where potential daters select a partner based entirely on first impressions — beginning with full nudity — before revealing personalities, voices and backstories, subverting traditional dating-show norms to emphasise authenticity over polish.
The show was produced by 'Studio Lambert' for Channel 4 and gained notoriety and popularity for its frank and unapologetic approach to body image, diversity and romantic honesty. In a world where so many dating shows rely on glamour, editing and artifice, Naked Attraction made a statement: real bodies, real people, real choices.
After being added to the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max), Naked Attraction quickly surged to the top of the platform’s “most popular” list in the U.S. — becoming a buzzworthy “guilty pleasure” for many viewers. The show was talked about in Variety Magazine, on the TV Show 'The View' and 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians'.
As a Casting Researcher on the show, my role was crucial in finding the people willing to step into such a vulnerable — yet empowering — format. I held in-person auditions, selecting participants who not only felt comfortable with the show’s premise, but also embodied a diversity of ages, body types, backgrounds and attitudes. Creating a safe, relaxed environment was paramount: I spent time with potential contestants, explaining fully how the show worked, ensuring their welfare and consent, and making sure they understood what participation entailed — nudity, exposure, and personal storytelling. On-set and off-set, I helped maintain a respectful atmosphere where people felt truly supported.
A highlight for me was casting a full round featuring the show’s oldest-ever contestant at the age of 75. His participation became a talking point across the UK, sparking conversation about age, self-acceptance and love beyond youthful stereotypes. That episode resonated deeply, and the segment was later featured in the widely watched show Gogglebox, demonstrating how Naked Attraction had transcended its own format — becoming part of broader cultural discussion.
Through my work, I helped ensure that Naked Attraction stayed true to its body-positive, inclusive values — and that those who appeared did so with full understanding, dignity and support. The casting wasn’t about shock value, but about finding real people who believed in honesty, who were ready to embrace vulnerability, and whose stories could resonate with viewers across the UK (and wherever else Channel 4’s international sales reach).
